REVIEW: The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

This was a bit of a random buy for me. Mainly because I’m not a cat person.

But after Christmas I decided to go online and order loads of books. I’m trying to read 120 books this year (I will eventually write about my reading and writing goals for this year!) and I was curious about The Travelling Cat.

It looked like a nice book, something a bit different, I hadn’t seen lots of reviews about it but I was curious. And sometimes you just have to get a book without knowing too much.

This book was both what I expected – a cosy book about a cat. And not. At all.

I would advise having tissues at the ready when reading this one because it is a bit of a weepy – but not for the reason you’ll expect.

And I would say that it is a good thing I didn’t know too much about the book before reading. Going into it blind, the book unfolded beautifully and I read this in about a day. So, I’m not going to spoil the fun.

All I’m going to say is that this has been one of my favourite reads so far this year and I would definitely recommend reading it – whether you’re a cat lover or not. It’s full of interesting characters, it’s a warm, heartfelt read but it also has a pretty massive twist.

That’s all the details I’m giving you, just take my word for it and if you’re looking for your next read I definitely recommend this one!
