I can’t believe it is time to launch the second month of our book club. I have picked quite a few new books this month, but hopefully you can pick one or two of them up for cheap enough. They are really varied this month so I’m hoping that there is something for everyone.
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins buy it here.
From the author of The Girl on The Train, this is a highly anticipated new release. Set in a small fictional Northumberland town this novel promises to be a twisty thriller with gothic undertones. Two women have drowned in the local ‘drowning pool’ and whether these women killed themselves or were killed hangs over their small community. Hawkins promises unreliable narrators, a wide cast of characters and plenty of plot twists in her first novel since The Girl On The Train.
The Tobacconist by Robert Seethaler buy it here.
One of the Waterstone’s books of the month for April, this is a historical novel which has already had great reviews and promises to be a fantastic and insightful look at life just before the outbreak of world war two. I am looking forward to seeing how characters are developed on the backdrop of such a huge historical event.
The Girl of Ink And Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, buy it here.
This novel is a piece of young adult fiction which has been surrounded by tremendous hype over the previous few months, attracting readers of all ages. With its nod to fantasy and mythology, it promises to be a unique and interesting read. I am looking forward to a new YA novel with a female central character that is unique and quirky, but also beautifully written.
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, buy it here.
Rebecca is perhaps Du Maurier’s most well loved novel, a gothic love story with a dark twist it has been reworked for stage and screen many times. With beautiful description, complex metaphor and surprising characters and plot, I feel that this is a novel that everyone should read.
I hope you like the look of at least one of June’s book club reads, let me know if you are picking one and if you like the format of the book club videos so far.
Thank-you so much for reading and watching, have a fabulous week.
